Continued Virtual Learning at OHS

The OASD has decided to extend virtual learning for OHS students through Tuesday, November 24. OHS students will continue in their current virtual learning model until Thanksgiving break.

This decision is based on a sustained number of COVID-19 positive cases among our student population during the November 3-13, OHS virtual learning period. The number of school-contact quarantines has decreased during the virtual learning period because OHS students have not been inside the building. However, the number of quarantines due to home or community contact has increased during the same period of time, and if our students had been at school, the current number of positive cases would have garnered a very large number of student quarantines.

The schedule for OHS students over the next few weeks will be:

  • Monday, November 16-Friday, November 20: OHS virtual learning
  • Monday, November 23-Tuesday, November 24: OHS virtual learning
  • Wednesday, November 25-Friday, November 27: Thanksgiving break, no school for all OASD students

OHS families should check their email and the Updates from OHS Blog for additional information about the temporary shift to virtual learning. Additional information can also be found at:

Decision Making For Returning to School After Thanksgiving Break

We understand that these changes to our instructional model are difficult for students and families. It is our hope that students can return to school after Thanksgiving break in a learning model that can be sustained for a longer period of time.

In the next week, we will evaluate all of our learning model options to determine the best approach to return to school on Monday, November 30, whether with face-to-face instruction, a return to our hybrid model, or virtual learning. We will share these plans with students, families, and staff by the end of next week.

Student Food Service Options

OHS students will have the opportunity to order meals during this virtual learning period. Meals are packed based on the number of virtual school days your child will have each week and families can pick up those meals at OHS Main Campus. Student breakfast and lunch will continue to be free because of the USDA sponsored free meal program.

Visit the OASD Food Service page for more information on ordering meals during virtual learning
