OASD School Board members heard input from OASD parents and community members who attended the meeting on Tuesday, May 4, and discussed the current face mask requirement among themselves. As a result, the Board voted to uphold the face mask requirement for OASD students and staff through the end of the 2020-21 school year, with face masks optional during Summer School.
This decision is meant to protect students' health maximizing their learning time between now and the end of the school year. There are seven weeks left in the school year, which is a critical time for students to complete their learning goals. Our schools also work hard to host their annual celebrations, graduations, and grade-level promotion ceremonies in person. These events will only be possible if our students are healthy and in school for the next 35 days.
Families may submit a face mask accommodation form to their school health room and that form is available on our website or by clicking this link.
As always, we will continue to reevaluate COVID-19 strategies as new information becomes available and as we monitor local and internal health conditions. As always, our goal is to stay safe to stay open.
