Greenland Elementary Principal Shannon McCaffery was chosen as one of the 17 principals across the state recognized with the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation 2022 Principal Leadership Award. The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation created the award to recognize outstanding Wisconsin school principals or administrators.
The Kohl Foundation award program was established by Herb Kohl, philanthropist, and businessman. Since 1990, the foundation has awarded more than $28.3 million to Wisconsin educators, principals, students, and schools. "Education is the key to the future of Wisconsin and our nation," Kohl said. "I am very proud of the accomplishments of these principals and look forward to the great contributions they will make in the future."
"The Oconomowoc Area School District (OASD) is lucky to have Mrs. McCaffery and benefit from her incredible work as a Principal leading one of our longest standing 5-Star rated schools," said Interim Superintendent Kristen Taylor. "I am so happy that she is being recognized by others for this important work. She truly represents the best of the work in creating a climate to best serve students, families, staff, and community."
The Herb Kohl Leadership Award recognizes school principals who have set high standards for instruction, achievement, and character, and created a climate to best serve students, families, staff, and community. As an award winner, Mrs. McCaffery will receive a $6,000 Leadership grant, and an additional $6,000 awarded to Greenland Elementary for use in innovative educational projects.
"I am honored to receive the Herb Kohl Leadership Award," said Mrs. McCaffery. "I am grateful to the Greenland staff and community for bringing their talents and passion for students every day. I plan to dedicate the Leadership grant money to the new playground fund."
