Oconomowoc High School announced this week that Kim Mueske has been named the new Head Girls Basketball Coach. Mueske, who replaces Bob Shea in that role, will also be joining OHS as the new Leadership Development teacher for the 2022-2023 school year.

Coach Mueske is familiar with the Oconomowoc Area School District and the OHS basketball program having served as both an assistant coach for the varsity girls basketball team and as head JV coach. Mueske is currently a teacher at Summit Elementary School.

Mueske was born and raised in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She attended Cedar Falls High School and was a three sport athlete for the Tigers, playing volleyball, basketball, and soccer. Her basketball team found success, with three state tournament appearances during her high school career, one state runner up and a state championship title. The Tigers went 51-1 in her last two years combined, just losing the state championship game her junior year. Kim went on to be a four year starter on the women's basketball team at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota.

Since moving to Oconomowoc four years ago, Kim has been involved in the YMCA basketball and volleyball programs and the Oconomowoc Youth Basketball Club as a coach. She has also been on staff as an assistant coach and head JV coach for the our girls basketball team.

"I am beyond excited to continue working with the Oconomowoc Girls Basketball Team in my new role. We have a great group of girls returning, with a lot of talent. I know what Oconomowoc girls basketball is capable of, and witnessed it first hand as an assistant during our run to the state tournament in 2020. I look forward to keeping this in our forefront as we prepare and train for the season ahead. I would be remiss if I didn't express my passion for continuing to grow our youth program. At the root of my high school team's success was the development of our young athletes. The parents, coaches, and community members who came together to create a culture where us girls could have fun, while also developing our knowledge and skills played an integral role in our success, and success for years to come," Coach Mueske shared.

"After an extensive search, I am extremely pleased to be welcoming Coach Mueske to this new role," stated OHS Athletic Director Kevin Flegner. "The combination of Mueske's head coaching position and leadership teaching position at OHS means she'll interact with our students and athletes each school day. Coach Mueske will have the unique ability to focus on our player's success on the court while also helping in their personal development, leadership skills, and the student-athlete experience," he added.

Coach Mueske will be meeting with the team in the next week or so to discuss summer opportunities. We will also plan a meet and greet for parents, coaches, and athletes in the coming weeks. Please help me welcome Coach Kim Mueske to the Head Coach Raccoon Family!
