The school board met on June 28 for a planning workshop. This is an update on the board's direction for long-range facilities planning and the potential referendum.
June 28 Meeting Outcomes:
Referendum Question
- One question, instead of two
- Not to exceed $54.9M in total
- Continue to study reductions in overall scope and costs
Meadow View Elementary Site Location
- Locate new construction to the alternate Highway P site
- Benefits of building on the new location instead of on the existing site are lower costs to operate within city infrastructure, and a potential increase in state aid if the property and building are sold
OHS roof and HVAC maintenance
- Eliminated from the referendum plan
Ixonia Expansion and Remodel
- No change to plan
Greenland and Park Lawn Capital Maintenance
- No change to plan
Referendum Financing and Tax Impact
- Financing will be using level debt structure, instead of wrap-around debt structure
- At the July 19 board meeting, the board will review all final project scope, costs, and tax impact implications
